They select, set up and operate the heart:lung machine, which functions as the patients heart and lungs during surgery. Responsible and accountable for planning, organizing and staffing of Perfusion services in the operating room. Works independently with delegated authority and responsibility from the Director of Surgical Services for the operation of specific clinical and administrative aspects in the operating room unit. Collaborates with director in the preparation of revenue and expense budget including human, financial, and material resources. Provides clinical leadership throughdevelopment and maintenance of standards of clinical practice, participation in OR performance improvement and Surgery Section Committees. Works collaboratively with surgery section chiefs to promote proactive, effective, interactive shared governance relationship in the management of specialty services.Qualifications:Because youA?re committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. ThatA?s why youA?ll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:Education: Individual must complete a one, two or four:year perfusion educational program that has been accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) and must pass oral and written examinations given by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP).Other skills and knowledge:(skills, knowledge, abilities)Progressive leadership experience with proven track record of success in, personnel productivity and utilization methodologies, communication and customer prehensive knowledge base of surgical specialty procedurePreferredEducation: Bachelors degree in biology, chemistry, respiratory therapy, nursing or 1,000 cases as primary perfusionist and 10 years of practice WeA?ll Support You at Work and Home Our foundations are built on dignity and respect.
